TSG: Employment Talks: Law on Foreigners and Law on Employment of Foreigners in Serbia
On the 28th of November 2023, TSG Lawyers Belgrade and the Swiss-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SSCC) organised in Belgrade the TSG :Employment Talks: working breakfast on the topic of:
„What are the Effects of the Amendments to the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Employment of Foreigners in Serbia?“
The working breakfast took place at the Zepter Hotel in Belgrade and drew significant attendance from business representatives, foreign embassies, consultants and legal advisors.
Attorney at law and partner Ivana Stefanović, along with junior lawyer Marta Luković, both members of the TSG team, presented on the current topic of changes to regulations regarding the immigration status of foreigners in the Republic of Serbia, using practical examples to illustrate their points.
At the opening of the presentation, the reasons and main motives for the implementation of changes were analysed, which are reflected in the harmonisation of Serbian legislation with EU directives, the liberalisation of the procedure for employing foreigners and obtaining temporary residence, and the further development of the labour market in Serbia.
The amendments to the aforementioned laws were presented in detail during the presentation, accompanied by a lively discussion and interactive exchange of views and insights among the participants. These amendments mainly concern the changes in the procedure for authorising the temporary residence and employment of foreign nationals. The presentation was followed by a casual dialogue to address all open questions and expectations regarding the implications of the proposed amendments.
