{"id":6439,"date":"2025-04-11T16:15:25","date_gmt":"2025-04-11T15:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tsg.rs\/publications\/tsg-podsetnik-radno-pravo\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T10:30:54","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T09:30:54","slug":"guide-to-labour-law","status":"publish","type":"publications","link":"https:\/\/tsg.rs\/en\/publications\/guide-to-labour-law\/","title":{"rendered":"TSG Guide: Labour Law"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">TYPES OF EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIPS ACCORDING TO DURATION<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Employment relationship may be concluded for:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>indefinite term<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>fixed term.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An employment contract may be concluded for a definite period, for entering an employment relationship which duration is predetermined by objective reasons justified by the deadline, the completion of a specific task or the occurrence of a specific event, during the existence of those needs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fixed-term employment relationship with the same employee may last, with or without interruptions, up to 24 months (this is maximum duration of fixed-term employment relationship).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Exceptions to the maximum duration of fixed-term employment relationships are:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>necessity of replacement of a temporarily absent employee, until his\/her return;<\/li>\n<li>for work on a project which duration is predetermined, up to the project&#8217;s completion;<\/li>\n<li>with a foreign citizen, on a basis of a work permit in accordance with the law, for a period no longer than the validity of the permit;<\/li>\n<li>for work on the jobs at a newly established employer, which registration with the competent authority at the time of the entering into the employment contract is no longer than one year, for a period of up to 36 months;<\/li>\n<li>with an unemployed person who lacks up to five years to fulfil one of the conditions for old-age retirement, for a maximum period until the condition is met, in accordance with pension and disability insurance regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Upon the expiry of the term of the employment contract from points 1-3, the employer may enter into a new fixed-term employment contract with the same employee, on the same or a different legal basis, in accordance with Article 37 of the Labour Law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":3479,"menu_order":49,"template":"","categories":[6386],"class_list":["post-6439","publications","type-publications","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-employment-law-en"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v25.6 (Yoast SEO v25.6) -
