Retrospective of the AIJA conference in Belgrade

Last week, our team of seven lawyers specialised in the Healthcare & Life Sciences industry, T.R.A.D.E and M&A, and Corporate Law attended the AIJA – International Association of Young Lawyers – conference “Bring Business to Life: M&A and Commercial Transactions in the Life Sciences Industry” held in Belgrade for the first time. The event was an invaluable learning experience for our team, combining professional development with excellent networking opportunities.

The conference, held between 18-20 April at the Metropol Hotel, brought together over 200 colleagues from around the world. Over the course of three days, six panels discussed the key trends affecting these industries.

The dynamic atmosphere that prevailed during the panel discussions enabled our team to interact with respected experts from around the world on M&A, Healthcare & Life Sciences and T.R.A.D.E. topics that are currently very relevant in practice. The exchange of experiences and obstacles faced by lawyers in their work proved invaluable, providing new perspectives and encouraging cooperation that transcends geographical boundaries. The conference provided further insight into the challenges currently facing the Life Sciences industry, particularly in relation to the acquisition or transfer of business assets (referred to as ‘asset deals’) and the impact of digitalisation, artificial intelligence and ESG standards on their operations.

We would like to commend the Organising Committee of the AIJA Belgrade conference: Siniša Čolović, Anđelka Todorović, Radina Tomanova, Daria Rutecka, Gustavo Coelho and Renato Bucher, for their exemplary organisation of this event. It was a genuine privilege to be part of such an inspiring environment, and we look forward to future AIJA conferences that will further enrich and inspire us.
