E-Trustmark in the Republic of Serbia

Newsletter 158

In accordance with the Law on Trade of the Republic of Serbia, merchants have the possibility to present the trust marks. These trust marks guarantee that regulations are being respected and that safety is guaranteed during the purchase for the consumers. For online merchants, there is specially intended E-Trustmark.

‘E-Trustmark’ is a mark of trust in electronic commerce. This mark is displayed on the merchant’s website to confirm that they are compliant with all required criteria and procedures, in accordance with the business control procedure. This mark enables merchants to promote the transparency of their online stores and affirm their compliance with consumer rights, promoting greater user confidence in electronic commerce.

EU Regulation no. 910/2014 on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market (eIDAS regulation) regulates electronic identification and trust services in the European Union. One of the key elements of this regulation is the EU Trust Mark, sign that qualified merchants use to indicate that they provide trustworthy services.

This project has improved the Republic of Serbia’s online business and promoted the digitalisation and modernisation of business processes.

In the Republic of Serbia, authorised bodies are responsible for issuing the E-Trustmark sign and for monitoring business operations and compliance with regulations. The process of obtaining the E-Trustmark sign starts with a request to an authorized body, which then reviews the merchant’s business and carries out the evaluation process.

As part of the control procedure, the authorised body examines various business segments, including: merchant identity; product/service information; the purchase and ordering processes; guarantees; compliance; complaints; the privacy policy; and data protection.

The E-Trustmark is only valid for a limited period. It is issued for a period of one year, during which time the authorised body carries out special controls and informs the merchant, i.e. the holder of the E-Trustmark mark, of the results.

If you have any questions or concerns about the process of obtaining the E-Trustmark sign, please feel free to contact us via email at office@tsg.rs
